Edna Black Reeves, age 97 of 700 Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin, NC passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hugh Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkin, NC. She was born April 15, 1920 in Alleghany County to the late Charlie and Cordia Osborne Black. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Olin Columbus Reeves; two brothers, Homer Black and Ray Black; two sisters, Mildred Black Boyer, Wilma Black Edwards. Edna loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She also loved gardening. She is survived by one son, Richard Reeves and wife Judy of Morganton; two grandchildren, Rebecca Reeves Howerton and husband David of Simpsonville, SC, Michael Reeves of Houston, TX; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Edna at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Jacqueline Tookey officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Chatham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care that she received for several years.
