Joan Mitchell Boyle

Joan Mitchell Boyle, age 54 of Waxhaw, NC passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 5, 2017. She was born August 5, 1963 in Gastonia, North Carolina to Bays Cockerham Mitchell, Sr., and Judith Leonard Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Bays C. Mitchell, Jr. She received her BA from Belmont Abbey College. She started her career in banking 29 years ago with First Union National Bank in Charlotte, NC. Her current position was in Corporate Finance at Wells Fargo Bank in Charlotte, NC. Joan was a true friend to many. She loved the outdoors and cherished her time at the farm. She was an enthusiastic horsewoman. She and Hope enjoyed trail riding and camping with friends. Joan attended Freedom Biker Church of Monroe, NC. She is survived by her mother, Judith Leonard Mitchell; one daughter, Nicole Gilchrist & husband Zack; one son, Chad Bugielski; one granddaughter, Emily Upton; one grandson, Keiran Gilchrist; one sister, Mary Beall and husband Ben; nephew and niece, Jack and Sara Beall; one sister-in-law, Lin Mitchell; nephew, Drew Wait and wife Jess; great-nephews, Dylan and Carter Wait; special friends, Jimmy Hancock, Jeff Boyle, and Jeff Bugielski. There will be a Cowgirl Celebration of Life service at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the Prayer Garden at Shiloh United Methodist, 97 Shiloh Church Road, Sparta, NC 28675. Pastor Jack Tookey will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the inurnment in the fellowship hall at the church. Feel welcome to wear your Cowboy attire.
