Mabel Caudill Brooks, age 83 of Jonesville, NC passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at her residence. She was born April 25, 1934 in Alleghany County to the late Robert Clinton and Bessie Pruitt Caudill. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Caudill and Leo Caudill; three sisters, Cleo Brooks, Faye Crouse, Ruby Dancy. Mabel married William Zane Brooks on July 3, 1954. Mabel professed a hope in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ February 3, 1956, and joined Laurel Glen Church and was baptized and remained a faithful member as long as she was able to go. She was a gospel song writer, and loved to sing wherever we went. She was very artistic in creating and making crafts, flower arrangements, and remodeling the inside of the house or any project she decided to do. She was a wonderful companion and a mother who loved our children. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Mable had been failing in health for about five years. Doctors and hospitals did all that they could for her, but she just couldn’t make it. So she just went to sleep in the arms of a loving Savior. Someday I will see her again in her new home and live forever. She is survived by her husband, William Zane Brooks of the home; two sons, Shawn Hal Brooks and wife Mariam of Poplar Springs, Shane Matthew Brooks of Jonesville; one daughter, Sandra Brooks Webster of the home; one grandson, Shawn Jeffrey Brooks and wife Joy of Elkin; two great-grandchildren, Bethany Brooks and Savannah Brooks; two sisters, Mildred Brooks of Wilkesboro, Wanda Turner and husband Harold of Elkin; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Mabel at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Elder Russ Cox and Brother Ralph Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Glen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Laurel Glen Cemetery Fund, c/o Judy Cooper, 681 Shawtown Road, Glade Valley, NC 28627.
