Barbara Bottomley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Amy Bottomley, age 92 of Greensboro, NC passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She was born November 10, 1926 in Bournemouth, England to the late Frederick and Lily Chick Hanham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Charles Bottomley; son, Dale Wayne Bottomley; sisters, Molly Joseph and Yvonne Kerley. Barbara was very giving, center of the family, loving, caring mother and grandmother. She loved her dog “Honey Bun.” Barbara was of the Baptist faith, and she loved the Lord. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, flower gardening and exploring exotic birds. She is survived by five sons, David L. Bottomley of Randleman, Dean Bottomley and wife Dee of Greensboro, Gary W. Bottomley and wife Marsha of McLeansville, Michael E. Bottomley of Gibsonville, Bryan K. Bottomley and wife Sabrina of Kernersville; three daughters, Barbara Ann Bottomley and husband Leonard, Sylvia Jean Wetmore and husband Sonny of Julian, Sherry Lynn Hoover and husband Robert of Pleasant Garden; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Helen Bottomley of Burlington; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Barbara at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Saddle Mountain Union Baptist Church with Brother Hugh Miller and Brother Ed Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The family would like to express their thanks to Laura Haithcock.
