Bob Meland Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert “Bob” Wentworth Meland, age 64, of Sparta, NC passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was born June 16, 1956 in Medina, New York to the late Ellsworth and Alice Meland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Bill Parshall. Bob was a prolific musician, mainly playing the bass guitar. He worked for many years with Stampede Brothers of Rochester, NY. Then after moving to North Carolina, he was proud to work with Illusion Highway, Crossroads, Fetch Baxter, but his greatest joy was the Elkin Big Band. He loved everyone fiercely. He always had a smile for everyone. He is survived by wife of almost 44 years, Darline Singleton Meland; three children, Jessica Scouten and husband Joseph of Niagara Falls, NY, Tucker W. Meland of Independence, VA, Samuel P. Meland and wife Stacy of Independence, VA; four granddaughters, Tamara Besse and Ariel Krajewski of Niagara Falls, NY, Tzofia Meland of Medina, NY, Gabriella Meland of Independence, VA; seven grandsons, Collin Besse and Gavin Krajewski of Niagara Falls, NY, Teagan W. Meland, Tylon Meland, and Tzenn Meland all of Medina, NY, Kayden Meland and Addison Meland both of Independence, VA; one sister, Marlene Parshall of Spencerport, NY; one brother, Ron Meland and wife Jan of Medina, NY; nieces, Carole Nohle of Rochester, NY, Rae Meland of Medina, NY, and Rhonda Parshall of California; nephews, Wade Parshall and wife Lindi Loo of Texas, Courtney Converse of Rochester, NY; two great-nephews, Dean and Ian; one great-niece, Galla Meland; one great-great-nephew, Rian Meland. The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2021 at New Covenant Church with Pastor Phil Edwards officiating.
