Byron Marcel Johnson, Jr., age 23 of 1978 Hwy. 18 N., Sparta, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Sparta. He was born in Mecklenburg County, October 9, 1992. He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Marcel Johnson, Sr.; his maternal grandfather, Richard Lewis Hampton. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Samantha and Donny Biggins of Sparta; godparents, Carla and Richie Moxley of Sparta, Jeri Atkinson of Sparta; five brothers, DeMarcus Hampton, Joevon Hampton, Nolan Biggins, Xavier Johnson and Tamardi Johnson; a sister, Madelyn Ray of Sparta; maternal grandparents, Debra and Tommy Autry of Sparta; paternal grandparents, Sarah Johnson Austin and Kennard Austin of Charlotte; maternal great-grandmother, Marlene Helms of Charlotte; mother of his expecting child, Micaela Navarro; special friends, Cody Moxley, Mitch Moxley, Eric Ramirez, Devin Brown, Humberto Garcia, Barry Pennell; special loved one, Emily Andrews of Sparta; several nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Byron at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Mr. Ben Gatton and Pastor Pam Caudill officiating. Interment will follow at the New Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Piney Creek. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of his mother at 82 Hill Street in Sparta.
