Casey Patrick Flattery October 18, 1984 – October 24, 2021 The world has lost a bright light with the untimely passing of Casey Patrick Flattery, beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to everyone he met. Born at 10:03pm, October 18, 1984 in Nashville, Tennessee to Jeff and Pat Flattery, Casey’s kind heart and infectious smile lit up a room. An incredible teacher, elite golfer, charismatic businessman, avid fly fisherman, outdoors enthusiast, amateur chef, and die-hard Tennessee Vols fan, he loved surrounding himself with people. His passion for making connections with others brought him great joy, as did an early morning alone on a misty golf course. He loved enjoying a mountain summer day dipping his feet in the cool river with his trusty best doggo friend, Moose and a good college football Saturday with “the boys”. Most of all, Casey loved making people laugh with his original one-liners, silly impressions, and library of content from all things “Barstool”. Casey was an exceptional athlete and played golf, football, and basketball growing up, winning his first golf tournament at the age of 7. He went on to play collegiate golf at Gardner-Webb University in Shelby, North Carolina, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2007. After graduation, Casey continued his career in golf both as a player, joining local tournaments, and as a teaching professional at TPC Piper Glen in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since 2017, he has worked alongside his father as a Project Manager at Jemsite Development in Jefferson, North Carolina. Casey went to be with our Lord at 10:04pm on Sunday, October 24 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina, surrounded by family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and Lorraine Murphy (Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin); grandfather, David Flattery (Albia, Iowa); uncle, Fritz Murphy (Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin); aunt, Rita Holmgren (Minnesota); and cousins, Chris Kosman (Albia, Iowa), John Popson (Albia, Iowa), and Renee Murphy (Wisconsin). He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Pat Flattery (Sparta, North Carolina); his grandmother, Grace Flattery (Albia, Iowa); sister, Elizabeth Flattery Cortes (Oriol Cortes) and nephew/godson, Luca (Orlando, Florida); sister, Katie Flattery Flores (Robb Flores) and niece/goddaughter, Delaney and nephew, Noah (Salt Lake City, Utah); sister Tina Flattery (James Baucum) (Salt Lake City, Utah) and nieces, Maddie Gilstrap (Bozeman, Montana), Mary Grace Flattery (Asheville, North Carolina), and Maya Baucum (Salt Lake City, Utah), and nephew, Jeffrey Gilstrap (Redlands, California), and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive visitors for a viewing at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 10:00am – 12:00pm, followed by a private, family Mass of Christian Burial at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church at 1:00pm, officiated by Fr. Cory Catron, Fr. James Stuhrenberg and Msgr. Patrick Winslow. Grandview Memorial Funeral Home is proudly serving the Flattery family and if you wish, online condolences may be submitted to the family at www.grandviewfuneralhome.com.
