Dennis Samuel Maines, age 62, of Sparta, NC passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his residence. He was born December 20, 1957 in Alleghany County to the late Owen Jessie and Bessie Ruth Wooten Maines. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, David Parlan Smith; one sister, Dianne Pamela Witherspoon; one great-niece, Emily Danielle Evans. Dennis was a member of Scottville Baptist Church. He loved basketball and watching ballgames on the television. He is survived by two nieces, Amanda Jones and Connie Evans both of Sparta; two great-nieces, Makenna Jones and Gracie Jones; one great-nephew, David Hall; one great-great-niece, Sophia Elizabeth Guerrero. The family requests the honor of your presence at the graveside service to honor the life of Dennis at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Shiloh Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Roten officiating..
