She was born May 3, 1951 to the late John S. and Lena Mae Tate Hartley. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Smith; one brother, Jackie Hartley; one sister, Martha Ann Miller; one great-granddaughter, Layla Mae McMillian; one daughter, Angela Mae Hawks and one nephew, Stevie Miller. Eva was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Galax, VA. She enjoyed watching TV with her grandson and playing games. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. She is survived by three grandchildren, Lena Hawks of Winston-Salem, Jessica Hawks of Sparta and Justin Hawks of Sparta; four great-grandchildren, Trip McMillian, Brody McMillian, Jazmine Storm and Noah Phipps; one niece, Lisa Lawson and husband Mark of Martinsville, VA; one nephew, Walter Miller of Poplar Camp, VA. The family requests the honor of your presence at the Celebration of Life Service to honor the life of Eva at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2022 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home.
