Gencie Mae Finney, age 82 of Sparta, NC passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Lotus Village in Sparta, NC. She was born April 8, 1941 to the late Cleve and Annie Ogle Bottomley. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Jackie Ray Edwards, William Fleming, Sr. and Joe Finney; four brothers, Dennis Bottomley, Blan Bottomley, Bill Bottomley, L.C. Bottomley; four sisters, Cora Sue Brown, Lucille Holt, Alberdeen White, Lorene Boles; three half-sisters, Zenna Todd, Gladys Bedsaul, Cecil Bottomley. Gencie loved to cook and clean. She loved everyone and always treated them with kindness. She loved working at Alleghany Cares, and sitting with families to help with their loved one. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Billings and husband Rex of Sparta; two sons, Jerry Edwards and wife Crystal of Ennice, William Fleming and fiancé Angie Marion of Mt. Airy; ten grandchildren, Heather Benfield and husband Marcus, Jordan Edwards, Gabriel Billings and wife Emily, Carrie Brown and husband Ronnie, Cassidy Holyfield and husband Luke, Kylie Fleming, Mamie Marion, Andrian Williams, Shayna Brewster; three brothers, Junior Bottomley and wife Carol, Ben Bottomley and wife Gail, Bobby Bottomley; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family request the honor of your presence at the funeral home to honor the of Gencie at 2:00 pm, March 29, 2024 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Ed Hall and Pastor Gayle Bolt officiating. Interment will follow in the Glade Creek Union Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 in the chapel of the funeral home.
