George Keith

June 26, 1931 - December 4, 2020

George Gilmer Keith, age 89 of 11932 Hwy. 18 North, Ennice, N.C. passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C. He was born in Wythe County, Virginia to the late Walter and Vergie Sawyers Keith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Keith; granddaughter, Staci Keith; eight siblings. George was a member of Savannah United Methodist Church in Ennice, N.C. He was a graduate of Emory and Henry College, Appalachian State University and the University of Virginia. He served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954. He retired from the Alleghany County Public School Systems in 1986 after serving as both teacher, assistant principal and Principal. He is survived by his wife, Shirlie Keith of the home; one son, Brian Keith and wife Darlene of Ennice; two grandchildren, Morgen Billings and husband Josh of Ennice, Marissa Lawrence and husband Marcus of Cedar City, Utah; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests your presence at the Celebration of Life service to honor the life of George at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Savannah United Methodist Church with Pastor David Payne officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pleasant Home Union Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, but the family will not be present. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask.
