George Royall Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George M. Royall, age 87, of Sparta, N.C. passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Grayson Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center in Independence, VA. He was born November 9, 1932 in Alleghany County to the late George and Grace Viola McKnight Royall. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Ruth Sturgill Royall; one daughter, Sonjia R. Nance; two grandchildren, Autumn B. Lockamy and Sinea B. Padgett; eight brothers and three sisters; son-in-law, Rodney Nance. George was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of the Brethren in the Scottville community. He was a member of the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034, American Legion, and the Sparta Lions Club. He was an avid golfer. He is survived by one daughter, Mickie Baugus and husband Dale of Sparta; one son, Joey Royall and wife Darla of Sparta; one granddaughter, Anya Brown and husband Jim of Sparta; three great-grandsons, Chase Lockamy, Hunter Padgett, and Matt “Gunner” Padgett; one great-granddaughter, Everly Dale Brown; one sister, Betty Jo Hanks of Roaring Gap; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the celebration graveside service to honor the life of George at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Cherry Lane Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Dale Baugus officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve.
