Gertrude "Trudy" Lockhart Bell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On July 31, 2022, Gertrude “Trudy” Lockhart Bell, formerly of Gary, WV, and Sparta, NC, passed away in Buford, GA, at the age of 93. Trudy was born November 25, 1928, in Gary, WV, to the late Edgar Lee Lockhart and the late Ida Rebecca Brewster Lockhart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Mack Bell of 62 years of marriage; siblings, Cora Mae Lockhart, William Everett Lockhart, Edgar Franklin Lockhart, Thomas Albert Lockhart, Byrd Roosevelt Lockhart, Shirley Ann Gipson Green, and James Orvel Gipson; sons-in-law, Lawrence Joseph Damiano and Dewey Arnold Belcher; and grandson, Robert Sean Damiano. Trudy at one time was a women's archery state champion in West Virginia. She had a passion for writing songs and poems. She had her favorite song, “In the Land of My Soul,” copyrighted. She was a natural talent in cooking and her recipes have been handed down to generations of her family and friends. Another passion of hers was reading. Just a few months before her death, she read the Bible from cover to cover. Her joy was having her family surrounding her. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Jean Bell Puckett and Gloria Jane Bell Damiano-Belcher; siblings, Sharon Ellen Gipson Brady, Howard Wilson Gipson, Jr., and Marie Kathleen Gipson Thomas; grandchildren, Melissa Leigh Damiano DiMiceli (Patrick), Christopher Patrick Damiano (Laura), Lauren Jean Damiano Sirmans (Todd), Tyson Dean Puckett (Yana), Ashleigh Diane Puckett Howell (Brian), Sybil Bernadine Belcher Calandra, Celeste Louise Belcher Girard, and Dewey Arnold Belcher, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Joseph Tyler Langone (Brittany), Anthony Christopher Langone, Ashton Elijah Lambert, Veda Lillian Lambert, Max Patrick DiMiceli, James Lawrence Johnson, Raina Elizabeth Damiano, Elizabeth Helen Puckett, Catherine Lillian Puckett, Caden Joshua Belcher, Isabella Pearl Girard, Olivia Lynn Girard, and John Dewey Girard; great-great-grandchildren, Celestabella Leah Langone, Blaze Sellers and Christabella Sellers. A Celebration Graveside Service to honor the life of Trudy will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Sparta Cemetery with Brother Ed Hall officiating.
