Hubert Wagoner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Hubert Preston Wagoner, age 80 of 233 Andrews Ridge Road, Sparta, NC passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born March 15, 1939 in Alleghany County to the late Roy and Grace Wagoner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Ann Wyatt. Hubert was a member of Pine Swamp Union Baptist Church and served as a deacon and treasurer. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Laurel Springs Volunteer Fire Department for over forty-years and served as fire chief. Hubert was an honorable and hardworking man. He was as good as his word. He is survived by his wife of eleven years, Ercell Wagoner of the home; two stepsons, Don Richardson of Piney Creek, Raymond Richardson and wife Abby of TN; two step-daughters, Teresa Edwards and husband James of Glade Valley, Debbie Johnson of Booneville; one brother, Cecil Wagoner of Laurel Springs; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to celebrate the life of Hubert at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019 in the chapel at Grandview Funeral Home with Reverend Charlie Bennett, Reverend Max Combs, and Alleghany Honor Guard officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehead-Joines Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
