Ilene Woodie

Ilene Musgrove Woodie, age 94 of 662 Antioch Church Road, Sparta, NC passed away Monday morning, March 4, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Woodie was born July 22, 1924 in Alleghany County to the late Rufus Musgrove and Dora Blevins Musgrove. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Emerson Woodie; six brothers, Gwyn, John Ivan, Donald, James, Mack and Junior Musgrove. Ilene was known for her cooking skills with homemade chicken and dumplings as one of everyone’s favorite. She also loved gardening and canning. She is survived by her six children, Richard Woodie and wife Linda of Sparta, Clara W. Crouse and husband Clarence of Sparta, Larry Woodie and wife Pat of Sparta, NC, Linda W. Phipps and husband Bob of Elk Creek, VA, Iris W. Johnson and husband Gary of Sparta, John E. Woodie, Jr., and wife Patricia of Troutman; eight grandchildren, Melissa Malmfelt, Troy D. Searcy, David Woodie, Marcie Galyean, Robert Woodie, John Clinton Searcy, Larry Taylor and Angela Parlier; twenty-four-great-grandchildren also survives. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to celebrate the life of Ilene at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Brian Galyean and Brother Hugh Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in the Stratford community. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Clara and Clarence Crouse, 547 Pleasant Home Road, Sparta, NC 28675.
