J.D. Brooks

John Dale “J.D.” Brooks, age 81 of Sparta, NC passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1937 in Alleghany County to the late Andy Alex and Mae Higgins Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Brooks; special companion, Zonda Pruitt. He is survived by three great-nieces, Abbey Brooks Moxley, Casey Brooks, Emily Brooks; five first cousins, JoAnn Blevins, Shirley Bare, Maxine Fender, Reana Mae Thore, Mack Andrews; special caregivers, Deloris Bou Nassar, Janie Royal, and Caroline Richardson; special canine companion, Chuckles. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of J.D. at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Daren Bottomley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodruff Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medi-Home Hospice of Alleghany, PO Box 1287, Sparta, NC 28675.
