Jerry Ralph Farley, age 80 of 7 Tilley Road, Laurel Springs, NC died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta, NC. He was born July 22, 1935 in Graham County to the late Ben Jefferson and Celia Birchfield Farley. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years and was a decorated Vietnam Vet. He was a past Commander and life member of Salisbury AMVETS 460. He worked for NC Department of Cultural Resources Historic Site Section for 23 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife Joyce Croom Farley of the home; two sons, Ben Farley and daughter Daisy of Laurel Springs, James W. Farley and wife Rhonda P. Farley, and son Jared Farley and daughter Jamie Farley of Salisbury; sisters, Regina Bowers and husband Albert of Maryville, TN, Dorothy Williams and husband Richard of Maryville, TN; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Jerry at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Dana Hines officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
