Jimmy Jones or Mark Steven Roper, age 79 of 4158 Thomasville Road, Winston-Salem, NC died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born May 21, 1935 to the late Horace Wilford and Carrie Rozella Hamm Jones. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Loue Landreth Roper; beloved uncle and aunt, Mack C. and Bessie Hamm Edwards. He is survived by one daughter, Gracette Dorsett and husband Marty of Wilson; one grandson, Jackie Dorsett of Wilson; three stepchildren, Daniel Phillips of Conover, Paul Phillips, Jr., and wife Sebrina of Warrensville, David Phillips and wife Christina of Bedford Hills, NY; special friends, Joe Osborne and wife Mary of Winston-Salem, Johnny Webb, Jack Stone and Robert Mishoe. The family requests the honor of your presence at the service to honor the life of Mr. Jones-Roper at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Whitehead-Joines Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
