Lenda Edwards

Lenda Marilyn Boozer Edwards, 80, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 11, 2020 at her home after a lengthy illness. Born in Batesburg, S.C., on December 26, 1939, she was a daughter of the late William Alva and Fannie Lee Ward Boozer. Mrs. Lenda was a graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School and Winthrop College. She was a retired home economics and science teacher with Bennettsville High School and farmed with her husband. Mrs. Lenda was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and deacon. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and taking care of her family. She is survived by her son, George Thomas Edwards, Jr. of Okeechobee, FL; daughter, Carol Ann Edwards of Bennettsville, SC; twin sister, Brenda McCarty and husband Archie of West Columbia, SC; brother, Lex Boozer and wife Lyn of Batesburg, SC; grandson, Jack Thomas Edwards of Okeechobee, FL; and sisters-in-law, Jonelle Boozer and Linda Boozer of Batesburg, SC. Mrs. Lenda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Thomas “Tommy” Edwards, Sr.; sister, Happy Boozer; and brothers, Max Boozer and Billy Boozer. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home in Bennettsville. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Edwards Family Cemetery in Sparta, N.C.
