To View LiveStream of Mack's Service Click Here Mack Davis Osborne, age 97 of Glade Valley, NC passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Alleghany Center in Sparta. He was born November 22, 1925 in Alleghany County to the late David and Allie Wagoner Osborne. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by four sisters Hylda Burris, Sue Poole, Ruth Hines, Mabel Lyon; two brothers, Breece Osborne and Winfrey Osborne. He was WWII veteran in the US Army and served under General Patton. Mack loved sitting on the porch and drinking Dr. Pepper. He enjoyed the pig pickings at his home. He was a carpenter by trade and loved building cabinets. Mack trained horses and took care of the ones at Camp Cheerio and Camp Butler. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and football. He is survived by his wife, Kay Osborne of the home; three daughters, Doris Williams of Sparta, Patricia Byrd and husband Kenneth of Elk Creek, VA, Vickie Wagoner of Winston-Salem; one son, Jim Osborne and wife Susan of Texas; two stepsons, Jamie VanHoy of Galax, VA and Mark VanHoy and wife Sherrie of Galax, VA; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, George Osborne and wife Barbara of Ennice; special friends, Robert Potts of Wilkesboro, the staff of Pines Restaurant and Thomas Owens; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Mack at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2023 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Ed Hall, Mr. Noah Lyon and Mr. James Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow at Piney Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034, PO Box 1838, Sparta, NC 28675 or to help assist the family with the funeral expenses.
