Mattie Irwin Dickens

Mattie Reid Irwin Dickens, Age 95 of Sparta, NC passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at Alleghany Health. She was born June 10, 1927 to the late Joseph and Bessie Wooten Irwin. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by first husband, Buford Billings and second husband, Donald Dickens; one brother, Troy Irwin; three sons, Tommy Billings, Mike Billings and Mark Andrews; one daughter, Susan Sweeting. Mattie was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She loved to crochet, embroider, and garden. Mattie was a hard worker. She was a good and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Todd of Sparta and Julie Andrews of Yemassee, SC; one niece, Judy Lyon of Glade Valley; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Erma Billings of Charlotte. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Mattie at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Ed Hall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. There will be a private graveside service.
