Nancy Jean Mackie Banner

Nancy Jean Mackie Banner, age 80, of 245 Independence Rd., Sparta, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born April 9, 1933 in Avery County, NC to the late Walter Dean and Kathryn Julia Foster Mackie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Judy Schoefield and Martha Mackie; three brothers: Eugene, Dean, and Larry Mackie. She is survived by two daughters: Roxanna Banner Harpe and husband Charles of Monroe, NC and Sabrina Banner Hill and husband Larry of Harrisburg, NC; two sons: Michael Gene Banner and wife Debbie Jo of Waxhaw, NC and Jackie Columbus Banner of Gastonia, NC; one brother: Jimmy Mackie of Cranberry, NC; four grandchildren: Charles Daniel Harpe, Shirley Jean Harley, Natalie Hill and Michael Martin Banner; six great grandchildren: Lauren, Caleb, Jordan, Owen, Maggie and Malachi; two special friends: Larry Edwards and Patsy Crouse. The family will have a gathering of remembrance for family and friends on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta.
