Peggy Porter Hayslett

Peggy Ann Porter Hayslett, age 82 of 85 Miles Street, Sparta, NC died Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Independence, VA. She was born May 24, 1933 in Chester County, PA to the late Samuel Lewis and Annie Wagoner Porter. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Hayslett. She is survived by three sons, Sam Hayslett of Hampton, VA, James “Benny” Hayslett and wife Laraine of Shelby, Russell Lee Hayslett of Salem, VA; two daughters, Laura Hayslett King and husband Bill of Dayton, NV, Merlie Hayslett Jackson and husband David of Wilkesboro;grandchildren, Amra Hayslett and wife Jenn of Wake Forest, Janie Hayslett of Deep Gap, Alan Hayslett and wife Misty of Linville, Cassie Ervin of Reno, NV, Archie Ervin, Jr., of Reno, NV, Amber Garcia and husband Jose, Jessie Jackson of Wilkesboro; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Porter Easterling of Sparta, Marylou Porter of Galax, VA; one brother, Lewis Porter, Jr., and wife Marian of Galax, VA; two special caregivers, Peggy Scott of Sparta, Becky Kennedy of Sparta; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Hayslett at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. John McCray officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Sparta. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Twin Oaks Veterinary Hospital, 2970 Hwy 21 N, Sparta, NC.
