Phillip Donaldson

Phillip Samuel Donaldson, age 72, of 263 Logans Way, Sparta, N.C. passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was born February 8, 1948 in Crawford County, Kansas to the late Ivan Joe and Irene Marie Pollock Donaldson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Donaldson. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Phil served in the Marine Corps, Air Force, and Air National Guard. He worked for IBM. Phil was an active member at Christ Episcopal Church and enjoyed being a Hospice volunteer. He was also a member of Marine League in Concord and Sparta Lions Club where he loved doing flag detail. He always did what needed to be done, and he enjoyed his daily walks in Sparta. He is survived by his wife, Deb Donaldson of the home; son, Rob Donaldson and wife Danielle of Holly Springs; daughter, Susan Donaldson of Huntersville; three grandchildren, Alyssa Donaldson, Jamie Donaldson, and Cameron Donaldson; two sisters, Sharon Moore and Pam; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
