Reeves Blevins, Jr., age 69 of 1774 Grandview Drive, Sparta, NC passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at his residence. He was born May 7, 1947 in Alleghany County to the late Reeves Blevins, Sr., and Marie Blevins Woodle. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Gay” Blevins; one brother, John “Wayne” Blevins. Junior adored his grandchildren and family. He was a carpenter for fifty plus years, and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He is survived by three daughters, Shelia McGuire and husband Scott of Brentwood, TN, Sharon Lyons and husband Mike of Sparta, Julie Sprinkle and husband Mike of Sparta; seven grandchildren, Connor McGuire and Abigail McGuire both of Brentwood, TN, Megan Lyons, Erik Lyons, Morgan Lyons, Mika Mabe and husband Jeremy, Austin Sprinkle all of Sparta; stepfather, Edward Woodel of Sparta; three brothers, Gene Blevins and wife Carlene, Larry Woodle and wife Ann, David Woodle and wife Janie all of Sparta; four sisters, Vida Woodel, Susie Woodel, Ann Greene, Doris Maines and husband David all of Sparta; special friend, Mabel Hudson of Sparta; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Junior at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Daren Bottomley officiating. Interment will follow in Saddle Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
