Richard Vaughn Jones

Richard Vaughn Jones, age 87, 953 Sweet Hollow Rd., Laurel Springs, NC, died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born December 20, 1925 in Ashe County, NC to the late William Jennings Bryant and Jessie Clarence Church Jones. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Perry Jones. He his survived by a daughter, Nancy Jones Douglas and husband Tommy of Crumpler; sisters: Hazel Darnell of Piney Creek and Grace Mabe of Laurel Springs; three grandchildren: Sandy Carpenter and husband Steve of Ennice, Ricky Lyall and wife Sheila of Laurel Springs, Dustin Douglas of Crumpler; one great-granddaughter, Kelsey Lyall of Laurel Springs; two step-grandchildren: Thomas Douglas, Jr. and wife of Sparta and Cynthia Faile of Gastonia; seven step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Grandview Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dean Adams and Rev. Wayne Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Cranberry Cemetery in Laurel Springs. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the funeral home.
