Andrew Dale Blackburn, age 59, of 1174 Tayson Road, Sparta, NC passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at his residence. He was born July 18, 1960 in Ashe County to the late William and Anna Lee Reedy Blackburn. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Geneva McMeans. Andy loved his family and friends. He never met a stranger. He was an avid fisher, hunter, and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Blackburn of the home; one son, Christopher Blackburn and wife Mary of Independence, VA; one grandson, Justice Blackburn of Independence, VA; step-mother, Louise Blackburn of Rugby, VA; one step-daughter, Wendy Nixon and husband Chuck of Fort Chiswell, VA; one stepson, Talmage Blevins and wife Dagney of Independence, VA; five step-grandchildren, Noah Nixon of Fort Chiswell, VA, Keegan Blevins of Ennice, Owen Blevins of Independence, VA, Benjamin Blevins of Independence, VA, Brittany Puckett of Hillsville, VA; one step-great-grandson, Nolan Puckett of Hillsville, VA; six brothers, Woody Blackburn of Crumpler, Jerry Blackburn and wife Wanda of Rugby, VA, Tim Blackburn of Galax, VA, his twin brother, Randy Blackburn and wife Nancy of Rugby, VA, Harold Blackburn and wife Helen of Rugby, VA, Kenny Blackburn of Rugby, VA; one sister, Lisa Williams and husband Elwood of Burlington; mother-in-law, Virginia Parsons of Sparta; several nieces, nephews, friends and his Parkdale work family. The family requests the honor of your presence at the Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Andy at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2019 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Ed Hall officiating. Inurnment will follow at Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Wake Forest Cancer Center and Elkin Cancer Center.
