Rev. Joseph Frank Dixon, age 75 of 5090 U.S. Hwy 221, Sparta, N.C. passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 13, 1945 in Alleghany County to the late Robert Ed and Amelia Mabe Dixon. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two infant brothers, Melvin Dixon and Robert Dixon; two brothers-in-law, Robert Loggins and Don Atwood. Frank was a member of Sparta Full Gospel Church. He pastored several churches in the area, and had a radio ministry for 19 years. He went on seven missionary trips to India. He worked 50 years at Dr. Grabow Pipes. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Turnmire Dixon of the home; one son, Teddy Leroy Dixon and wife Lynn of Sparta; grandchildren, Wyatt Salter, Jack Wiggins, William Wiggins, Noah Wiggins, and Brandi Wiggins; three sisters, Linda Atwood of Sparta, Temphia Miller and husband Bronard of Laurel Springs, Lillie Loggins of Sparta; one brother, Hillery Dixon and wife Betty of Laurel Springs; three nephews, David Atwood and wife Michele of Virginia, Richard Atwood and wife Jennifer of Tennessee, Steve Dixon and wife Cynthia of Laurel Springs; three nieces, Shelia Lyall and husband Ricky of Laurel Springs, Lisa Tucker and husband Stewart of Laurel Springs, Sylvia Medley of Wilkesboro. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Frank at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2020 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Jones, Louella Marcey, Linda Mabe, Randy Rippey, and Sandra Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Mabe Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 2:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask.
