Myrtle Taylor

Myrtle Evans Taylor, age 87 of Sparta, NC passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at Genesis HealthCare of Sparta. She was born April 1, 1932 in Alleghany County to the late Henry and Pearl Mae Wagoner Evans. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Vester Taylor; four brothers, Charles Evans, Frank Evans, Everett Evans, and Glenn Evans; three sisters, Lou Caudill, Ruth Caudill, and Retha Evans. Cooking was her way of entertaining her family and friends, and her hobbies were crocheting, quilting and ceramics. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She is survived by her two sons, Alan Taylor and wife Connie of New Hill, Jim Taylor of Raleigh; one daughter, Jane Taylor of the home; two grandchildren, Timothy Taylor and wife Traci of Cary, Allyson Vaskey and husband Cole of Huntingtown, MD; three great-grandchildren, Everly Vaskey, Caden Vaskey, and Savannah Vaskey; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to celebrate the life of Myrtle at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Cranberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
