Viola Burke

Viola Grace Carpenter Burke, age 94 of Archdale, NC passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at North Pointe of Archdale. She was born July 31, 1924 in Alleghany County, NC to the late John Mac and Mae Carpenter. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Burke. Vi was a member of First Wesleyan Church in High Point. She was an avid baker whose mission was to love, comfort and share with all she knew. Until the age of 13 she was the only child, she called the farm animals her pets resulting in her lifelong love of animals. She had a pet goose named Georgie Ann after Uncle George. In the 1980’s Vi and Bill owned and operated Sis and Bill’s Restaurant in Sparta. She was a special soul to those whom knew and loved her and who will always be our precious Valentine. She is survived by one daughter, Billie Marsh and husband Keith of Trinity; one son, Danny Burke and wife Candy of Lexington; one grandson, Danny Lee Burke; one great-grandson, Danny James Burke; one brother, David Carpenter and wife Eleanor of Cox’s Chapel, VA; sister-in-law, Pat Lang and husband Gene of Youngsville; several nieces and nephews and her beloved cats, Annabelle, Riley and her sweet late Babydoll. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February, 14, 2019 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta, NC with Pastor John Vernon officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 6:30 pm at North Pointe of Archdale Assisted Living with Pastor Tommy Kidd officiating. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of North Pointe of Archdale and Community Hospice of Asheboro.
